Hi Pepole,

Before anyone says it, I have looked on ther search but mothing has come up :(

Can anyone provide a link for a guide in removing the carpet out of a LCR?

I need to dry out my carpet.

Please note: I dont require a guide in fixing a leak, I just need a guide in removing the carpet and underlay.

Thanks

easiest place to start is the back. if you pull tabs on seats they will pop forward then you unhook them from a catch. when backseats are out you can pull carpet and underlay upto the front seats. from here you need to remove any plastics in the way (bit of a pain in the bum). i removed my front seats to make the job easier, make sure battery is disconnected to avoid airbag light.

i removed mine completely for ease of putting carpet back, its only a few screws along the side. then you lift it up and pull backwards.

sorry for slow reply

The seat runner trims have one T10 torx screw in each, covered by a small plastic cap (these are difficult not to damage in removal).

The sill trims will just pull up, but to free completely the B pillar trims need to come out - these are fairly fragile and should be prised away carefully, there are plastic pegs and slots that can be broken. I cannot recall exactly the best method to lever it away - if you come up with a good method please let us know.

The OBD connector I believe ought to gently push backward and out of the hole in the centre console. Obviously you should be planning to lift up the whole console so you can get back to the connector to refit it afterwards. The gearstick gaiter plastic surround should unclip from the console - this is a bit of a tight fit if I remember right. The sides of the underlay have 'flaps' that are sort of glued on to the section that runs under the center console. I think I peeled these off so I could separate the underlay somewhat and aid removal.

There are a bunch of photos I could probably find on my old phone to write this up if you get stuck - it's a lengthy guide if done properly, but basically I was glad I stuck to my guns and removed the lot - the car never smelt of mould as a result.
