Hey was wondering if there is anyone in the aberdeenshire are that would be greatfull and give me a hand changing the rear brakes on my lcr this weekend. Ive done the front's today with relative ease. The back however are a pain in the ass. I cant seem to get the piston to retract at all even with a wind back tool. May be doing it wrong. But any help would be appreciated. Could even chuck in a case of beer if thats ok for labour costs. Desperate to fit my new wheels and get out for a spin.

Thanks alot in advance

Mark :(

P.s I stay in portlethen

didnt try the nipple just had brake fluid cover open. does the nipple need to be fully open? piston didnt really move at all. could this be due to nipple not being open?

Yes, you are pushing against the master cylinder seals, which can be an expensive mistake.

Put a tube onto the nipple and then into a jar, then open the nipple and wind back the piston.

Dont take the nipple out but definitely slacken it off so fluid can flow out then try again, If you do find that it is totally locking up the piston then it could be that the wind back tool has too wide a thread so is pushing back too much in relation to the turning, in which case just keep gentle pressure on the piston with the tool and then actually turn the piston by hand with some water pump pliers or similar, but be careful not to catch the rubber dust seal else it can rip.

Mark if I'm home I'll easily help you out. I've done mine twice and about to do it again.
Are you sure your using the right pieces and winding this the right way?
Mine was stiff as but just went for it and managed.
I'm on the Ensco 80 just now but should be home by next weekend if your still stuck

alrite junior what way do they wind back that could be the problem although the wind back tool only goes in the one direction. Away to give them another go as no car without them done lol. cant drive a pug 1.4 anymore.

Right there is an adaptor that locates in the piston with two grooves.
These allow the piston to be rotated clockwise to wind this back.
Try some WD40 around the piston.
I'm sure you'll manage.
