Hi Guys,

well, I left my 1.8T cupra ibiza 3 month without driving (licence gone..).

When I came back to take, the battery was dead..

I charged it, fine.. cars working perfectly.

BUT ?!!!

I can't open the car with the remote-key ??!! Although I can see the battery of the key is fine (red led flashing), there's no way I can open/close the doors. I can only open it using the key in the door..

Anyone knows if I can do anything about it without going back to the garage ??

I've been searching on the forum, but couldn't find much..

Thanks !!

cheers.

switch ignition on (dont fire engine)
switch off immediately and remove key
press and hold lock button and press the unlock button 3 times
something scary should happen with the indicators and all should be fine

I think you detailed more how to do it..

hope it'll help others....

ive got a problem with mine as well :(

Its not this issue but i think the battery in the remote thingy is going. Sometimes i have to stand outside the car for ages pressing the button until it lets me in!

I opened the key but cant see how i can get the battery out... I'm gonna have another go in a bit though!

does it make a difference if you stand a few metres away from the car rather than next to it?

last night i pressed my key when i was leaning out of the 4th floor of a tower block about 200m away from my car and it unlocked it! and then i pressed it again and it locked it no problem! but if i stand right next to the drivers door then it never works. i tried locking and unlocking several times from the 4th floor and it worked every time. must just be down to the position of the aerial in the car, that's all i can think!

ha ha yeah it always works so much better the further i am away from the car

Looks stupid though when i stand next to my car for ages hammering the buttons and then walking away until it unlocks!!!

Took the key completely apart last night and cleaned loads of dust out!!

I didnt expect it to work this morning (i thought i would have to re-code it) but it seems to work a lot better!!

Hopefully sorted.. I made a note of the battery number as well just incase!!!
