Hello and some simple questions

Firstly hello.... This fantastic forum has been an inspiration to help me decide what to buy...

I want to get a Leon Cupra R. 2003ish...

I have a couple of questions I wonder if someone could answer...

1. What is the service interval
2. What is the cambelt/pump change interval
3. How many miles should the average clutch last before it needs replacing?
4. How many miles do you get out of your tyres?
5. Does the cupra have CAN-BUS, or does it have the OBD2 based system before that? (basically, can I use the older VAG-COM on it?)
6. Where is the diagnostic port in the car?

I need to find some decent ones near to me and decide which to buy :)

Thanks all:)

Hi tegwin, nice choice of car :)

I will try and answer you questions...

1. I have no idea but the car does tell you when one is due. However, I service myself every 6k because I know how.
2. 60k
3. - (not got that far yet :D)
4. Depends on how soft the compound is. I'd say roughly every 10k for me personally and how I drive.
5. Can't help here although I am sure it's OBD2.
6. Under the ash tray in the centre console.

Thankyou for that.... very useful...

I know this is a terrible question to ask..

but.. for a 2003-3004 car, what is "standard equipment"?

I assume brembos, recaros, climate?

recaros are not standard in any LCR. They were a factory-fit option.
Recaro rear seats are VERY few and far between (and only available in the earlier LCRs) but the fronts are more common. (They will have Recaro written on them)

Yes - older VAG-COM works. I use 303.1 (I think) which is very old and now unsupported by Ross-tech, but it does what I need it to do, so don't see the point in upgrading.

Brembo's are standard on all Cupra R's, climate control standard on all Cupra R's however the Recaro seats were and optional extra throughout the lot (2002 - 2006) which cost over £1000 new! Only a few LCRs have these and they turned the car from a 5 seater into a 4 seater in earlier models and then the rear seats weren't supplied in the later Cupra R's. You still get sports seats with the 'R' logo stitched into the front seats though and are very comfortable IMO :)

Ahha.. that makes sence...

So if I can find one with recaros, its a bonus... but as long as the "standard" seats give enough support then thats not a big issue :)

I guess retrofitting some recaros wouldnnt be too dificult if thats what I really wanted to do....

Do you have any photos of standard seats? I can only find the recaro ones in photos.

Don't be fooled - all LCR seats have the "R" logo on them. They must have RECARO written under this logo to actually be the recaro seats.

To look at, you'll hardly notice the difference. They look almost identical, but side bolsters etc are slightly different. I believe the headrest is lower as well? Someone else should be able to confirm this.

Hello Friend,

I think about your questions and try to solve. Here i solve one thing for my car fabric. I find one fabric protection company which is provide complete solution for Fabric Treatment and Fabric Protection.

For more information about ,fiberseal.com - Fabric Protection and Fabric Treatment

Lol, not sure how that comes into it.

I don't have a pic because the image hoster I use (photobucket) is banned at work so I can't get the IMG tag to post up. They are supportive but not hugging like buckets. I am lead to believe that the Recaro's are bulkier and hold you in a little more, however there is a group buy on CG-Lock on here at the mo that takes slack out of your seatbelt and hold you in better.

Agh fantastic :)

What is the difference between the 210hp and the 225ph cars? They have different engine codes I believe? But what else is different?

Is one better than the other?

I recommend you use the search function of the forums - all the initial/basic questions have been asked and covered many times before :)

But in reality - not much difference between the two!

Performance wise there isn't anything in it at all i'd say and as far as I am aware there are no engine differences. I think the difference is in the ecu map and there are rumours that one has different turbo housing. I am not sure how true this is though but hopefully someone can clarify. Either way, all LCRs get the K04 turbo and tuning potential seems to be up to about 280bhp on the standard unit, after that you can go big turbo or hybrid the K04 which has claimed figures of up to 320bhp (max).

Check out this post about all of the proven differences...
