Hello everyone

I had a 'Custom' Open Filter on my car for the last couple of months and i REALLY like it, the noise it makes is fantastic although as its been getting warmer outside my car has been getting heatsoak and running like :censored:

I know some peeps say 'Induction Kits just dont work in the Summer' but im pretty sure most keep theirs on

I have gone back to the Standard Filter until i can find out how to make or where to get hold of a Heatshield for the Open Filter i have, once i have done that i think i will look to put it back on

Any ideas?

Do Jabba not sell theirs seperatley?

Other than that, buy a box of magic heros, stuff your face. Then walla, multi-coloured heat shield

ASDA, Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose will probably sell Cadburys Magic Heros. Get a large tub with a lid.

Eat the chocolates, then disguard the lid.

Cot a hole in the bottom of the tub big enough to slide over the end of the MAF then fit your filter.

The filter will be enclosed in your DIY heat shield ;)

stick a vent in the wing, buy a dynatwist, butcher it to improve flow then buy a small battery to allow the filter to sit closer to the wing then make a shield to prevent hot air from the engine bay getting at the filter. Job done.

I do not have the money for a Dynatwist and to be honest i think if i did have £200 to spend on an Induction Kit i would buy the Jabbasport one as its an Open Filter like the one i have got but comes with a Heatshield?

Induction kits work fine in summer you just need to ensure they get plenty of outside air! Obviously an open filter is just sucking everything in, but you can still direct plenty of cool air in it's direction if you still wanna keep the noise!

neuspeed also sell one alex!

but is pricey (about £160 i THINK)

u would be better off designing your own one and going to a stainless steel fabricator...

thats wat i would do!

go to a panel filter, you know you want to :)

seens that i have a buggered MAF, i may as well do temp logs before i replace it on an open filter with/without heatshield and compare them to my green panel filter.

Wouldnt spend money on an air filter though, especially 200!, i got my panel fitler 2nd hand,

Not only could it do with a heatsheild, it needs CAI even more so.

If you're reluctant to spend £200 on a dynatwist, then a modded airbox & CAI +panel filter will be the next best thing and VFM.

And it'll look OEM.

It's what I run and sounds ok, J@mes's one is a good example tho you dont have to go to the extremes that he did;)

It looks OEM by defualt:)

If Axle thinks she's got heat issues, my engine convo will require a hole cut in the bonnet so that the suasage will poke through, or drop the radiator 3-4" so I can feed it straight from the grill, hows that for CAI;)

what designing a heat shield?!

easy peasy!

take some meassurements, draw up a shape (with sizes of every length/width etc) and then approach some fabrcators!

stainless probably best but more expensive to make/weld

aluminium could be an alternative - especially if polished on reflecting side

depends how close / degree of heat your deflecting really

reminds me - must do my manifold cover
