heated washer jets & pipes

Morning all,
I have a June 2004 Cupra tdi, and i was under the impression these were heated?
or if not directly then would heat when the rear demister was on.

anybody able to clarify;
1, if we have heated washer jets or not
2, when do they heat
3, can i make them heated

just that this morning it took nearly 35min to defrost so i could use them. not much good when the windscreen is filthy with the dirt and rock salt spray and commute is 40mins long.
and yes i am using freeze proof windscreen washer.
Halfords blue one to be exact. should stay liquid to -5 on the bottle and no idea how cold this morning as the onboard temp gauge needs 5min to get an accurate reading and it only said -4 anyway

any idea on how can make them heated, as said; filthy roads and no way to clean them.
can't sit on drive for 30mins for them to clear before heading off...

Not that it helps any. The screenwash still freezes in the pipes. And I'm using halfords pink stuff thats guaranteed to a lower temp. It wont freeze in the bottle but always does in the pipes

could look on etka for the diff on bits 'n' bobs

Find a car that as them heated and see if you can fit them.
Or extend the return hose for the header tank to wrap around the water pipes.

Transit connect has them fitted

pity you can find a similar design which has alot bigger resevoir and heated


you can buy better screenwash , that doesnt freesze at all

ask the Scots what they use , like this most the time up there

its the bottle that heats up , but if its cheap mod , id be interested get the parts listed and prices


cant you just run screenwash neater to protect more ,

I've got a 2005 Ibiza Cupra TDi.
But the jets are definitely heated. An Option maybe? Although I;ve had the car from new and I never specced them

Like I say, it doesn't help the screenwash freezing in the pipes tho. I have considered lagging them with some kind of insulation, but never got round to it

I've found the mk4 ibiza "Fan" jets quite good! Especially as they are mounted under the bonnet! I've seen the actual nozzles freezing over on a lot of cars because of the speed/wind as you're driving, whereas these don't (so long as everyone says - it's not frozen in the pipes over night)

that's a good find, but need to rid myself of the current before i can purchase any, but then a mix may do.

I just meant vs Ford Focus etc - Like the girl I car share with... Her heated windscreen is great, and her Washer fluid wasn't frozen when we started off but 10min later we couldn't see because hers had frozen over

That'll teach her for slating my Ibiza! Although all she moans about is the crashy ride (standard suspension too!)

heated washer jets are about £16 each from seat, they where an option with the winter pack which included headlight washers.

thinking they will need wiring up to something as well, so anybody have these and can see how they are all connected up?

Part number is 191955986A as for the wiring i would have thought the heated mirror rear window circuit

use a decent and a decent mix of screenwash will help, will probably freeze the diesel before the screen jets then

Be carefull mixing alot of screenwash as alot has a mild antifreeze mixed with it so it can cuase damage to paintwork, i got 150ml of screenwash in min and rest water and its not frozen, bit of slush on top but its still water Mind you it was quite expensivve stuff had it for a year now you hardly use any its that stong.

i'm happy with the screen wash mixture, always used and no side effects.
just thinking of it as a safety feature that should/would be standard.
