Heated seats mising from FR model

Hiya, my old man has just bought a used moderate mileage 2019 Seat Leon FR 2.0 TSI DSG and it seems a nice car and all but there is something missing.

Firstly, the seats are standard fabric not leather. Secondly, there is no (at least on the dashboard) button for heated seats, even though the spec for the FR lists heated seats as standard. It could be that the button is on the seat itself, I haven't had a chance to look.

On a related note, I read on here about some models of FR having flappy paddles and some not and that it was a "miss build", could this be the same thing? I also read that in the event of a miss build, customers could be in for a refund from Seat, is that true?

I haven't checked his car for flappy paddles yet as I didn't realise it was supposed to be part of the spec, but heated leather seats certainly are, but they are not leather at least and unless the heating button is on the seat, not heated.

Edit: this isn't his actual car, but the same model and in the interior pics you can see that the seats are clearly not leather but some kind of hard material.

Thanks for any replies, I did search but this topic didn't come up.

Where have you got the spec info from? My understanding is that heated mirrors were standard on the FR but not heated seats. They were an option but only as part of the winter pack.

Paddles also an option on the FR I believe.

Refunds due to missing equipment would only have been offered to the original purchaser.

It was the 2.0 TSi FR Sport had the heated leather seats, etc, as standard, not the FR. It was the FR Sport model that had the 'mis-build' where some steering wheels never came with the flappy paddles.

The link to the Leon is for a Leon ST, where ST just refers to it being an 'estate' and nothing to do with sportiness!

This is an example of a 2.0 TSi FR Sport:

Looks like your Dad's just got a standard FR model.

@noheatedseats; link below is to the March 2019 spec and standard / optional equipment brochure for the 2019 Leon model range;

If you go to page 8 / 9 of the brochure you’ll see that heated seats were optional on the FR as @Walone and @Rusty2k have said - they were part of the extra cost winter pack (last item listed on the page). Steering wheel mounted gearshift paddles are also shown as being an option on the FR (third item listed on the page). Standard seats are cloth; leather or alcantara were extra cost options.

Based on the brochure content of the car’s spec, I’d say that the car your father bought isn’t missing heated seats and steering mounted paddles - the first owner would’ve needed to have spec’d the optional winter pack and paddles for the car to have them. Also, if the car was an mis-build, then IMHO any refund or compensation from Seat would only apply to the first / original owner of the car. If the car was incorrectly described in a dealer’s sale advert as having items of equipment that aren’t present on the car (advert content errors do happen), then IMHO that’s something you / your father may want to consider taking up with the selling dealer.

The linked ad. in your post is for a Sport Tourer Leon FR. If it is the FR ST that your father has rather than the hatch, then the FR ST model doesn’t have heated seats or steering wheel paddles as part of the standard spec either (pages 14 / 15 of the brochure).

I bought a new 2018 Leon 1.4 FR and the standard spec had fabric unheated seats. I was told I would have to order it with the additional winter pack if I wanted them. It was the top standard spec at the time. I assumed all autos had flappy paddles (mine was manual) I’ve had heated seats retrofitted on my last two cars including the FR at Boundary Care Care in St Helens, Lancashire. Excellent job, £495 for two and takes them around three hours.

As already stated, standard FR spec was seats in "Techy" cloth fabric with "Simil Leather" bolsters (vinyl in other words)
Heated seats only available by ticking the Winter Pack option. The switches are in the climate panel:

I've bought a 2019 2L TSI FR sport ST and its the model with no leather heated seats or digi dash.
It has the fabric seats with vinyl but does have the paddles.
I think Seat cars are just spec'd wierd.
I find my old BMWs had more as standard.

Thanks for your post. I note that you said the link is to a Seat Leon ST, but it does also say FR in the title.

By the sounds of it then nothing is amiss.

I take it the FR and FR "sport" are too separate models then. Confusing as I thought the FR was the sporty model!

Very comprehensive thank you. And you also answered a question I had asked the previous poster I replied to as well!

The model designations are a bit confusing, what with the standard FR, FR sport and Cupra being the range topper.

Oh no he said he was slightly annoyed that it was misdescribed but he's not going to bother over a minor thing like that.

He isn't even a car guy, he just wanted it because it was an auto + estate. Not that these new fangled estates are really much more than an extended hatchback!

Yeah it's a standard ST FR, he just wanted it because it was an auto and an estate (if you can call it that) he isn't even a car guy, haha.

They are nice cars, just a Spanish take on a VW, fair enough.

Also, weirdly, I can't find much about the 2.0 tsi lump, some of the car review websites don't even list it.

The 190tsi is engine code DKZA.
Same 'family' as the Curpa and GTI engines which are EA888 gen3 - BUT the 190tsi has a host of changes in the name of efficiency - and called the EA888 gen3B - the B meaning it runs a different combustion cycle than a regular petrol engine.
