Heated mirror stopped working

As it says my drivers side heated mirror has........'stopped heating' Any ideas?

I've checked the fuse, but as the passenger side still works, I didn't think it would be this.

The mirror still moves, just stopped heating.

Is the heating element part of the glass, or separate, and how easy is it to replace?

Just when the weather warrants it's use....typical!

I had the same thing on my Mk1 Leon, I assume they work the same. The heated mirrors worked on the same switch as the rear screen which you had to remember to turn off when it wasn't needed any more. I kept forgetting!!

It was just the heater element burnt out. I bought a replacement glass from the dealer for about £25 I think it was. The old one comes off with some gentle leverage (not that it matters if it's going in the bin!) and the new one just presses in. It was on a ball and socket type connection.

Yup, I'd second that, the heater tape will have burned out so you need as said, a new heated mirror glass. The best reason to be careful when removing the old glass is to avoid cutting your fingers. Once you fit the new glass try to remember to leave the switch away from the heater position to stop burning out the new glass! You are lucky that the other one has not gone as well - it probably will go soon enough!
