The heat shield on the Cupra TDI was replaced on the 11-12-2007 under warranty.

It has drop off again, or at least is being pulled off by the exhaust. [:@]

The car ran out of warrnty on the 15th Jauary 2009.

Is the replaced heat shield still under warranty? If not is there a good case for having replaced anyway due to it already being the second one and failing in the same way again?

On all of my dealer reciepts it says at the top " Retain invoice for 24 months guarantee of parts and labour" Except servicable items... (last one was in december 2008)
Worth a look at the reciept:think:

Mines has came loose a few times too. I used washers and screw it back up seems to have done the trick. I would be expecting the dealer to show a 'goodwill' gesture towards your though by repairing the one you have on now.

Thanks all.

The update is the dealer took a look and said the support bracket for the exhaust has come away from the bodywork and therefor damaged the heat shield.

There are no signs of corrosion or damage to suggest why this has happened.

The Misses took it to the dealer (who shall remain nameless for the time being) who were unable to take a photo (as "they left their camera at home").

I have since chatted this through with the dealer who is happy to re-inspect the car on Saturday morning and then send the evidence to SEAT.

In my opinion if the part has fallen off without any signs of damage or corrosion then the the part was not fit for purpose and is obviously a manufacturing defect.

I would recommend that you all get out and check the bracket supporting the exhaust at the rear silencer end (back box).

Update... just had the paperwork from the Misses as written by the garage......

"Rear silencer mounting pulled out of N/S/R Chassis!!"

The Misses said that the guys in the garage have never seen anything like it.
