Headlight switch/warning sound

I have noticed the headlight switch has been playing up on '57 1.4FS. Very occasionally when hearing the warning sound that my head lights have been left on, I turn the switch and the sound continues until I put key back in ignition. Also yesterday took keys out ignition, turned off lights and radio came on?!

This happened to anyone else?

Yeah, it's happened to me a couple of times, but it only seems to do it when it's either really cold (like -5 and below) or when the lights have been on for aaaaages.

Hasn't happened for a few months now tho. Must be a "feature".

Are any of your actual lights on, I felt really stupid when I had this on my car realised that one set of sidelights were staying on when parking, if you leave the indicator on when you turn the ignition off then that side light will stay on hence the warning beep.

Don't think the lights are on but not checked. It could be the indicator being on I suppose will look out for that next time it happens but I doubt it's that cos of the radio thing, I think it's the switch still. Oh well @ least I'm not the only one

Are you sure you don't sometimes leave the indicator stalk up or down? your car has left or right parking lights activated by the indicator stalk. and if you use them the lights on warning buzzer will buzz whilst the door is open. switching on the ignition turns off the left or right parking lights and then defaults back to flashing the indicators as normal.

Just tried it! Left indicator on switched off lights and it kept beepin so it must have been that  Oh well at least it's not faulty but that's a very strange thing for it to do!

I get the strange feeling that might have been my problem (I hadn't had the car long so I didn't know about the parking light feature...)

Well at least I live up to my status as a Newbie!:funk:

It's not strange, by leaving the indicator on left you are activating your left side only parking lights and the buzzer is warning you of this.

peugeots, fords and vauxhalls do this too ;)

Aha!
I'd had that a couple of times (nearside side lights on when i turned car off, even though lighting switch off) and thought water was getting into elec's or there was some other short.
Good to see the forum search function got me to this thread and potentaily saved me an embarrassing visit to the dealer i bought my car from.
cheers
