headlight light switch wiring?

I connected my subtle illuminated gear knob in the same way as this pic shows using +ve and -ve.

My only prob is its lights up constantly, does anyone no know which are the headlight connections so it only lights up when headlights are switched on?

Run it from the dimmer.....as this thread says....

First locate the headlamp switch, to remove it from the dash push the switch used to turn the headlights on in and turn it to the right, it will pop in and stay there, now pull on the switch, the whole unit should come out like a cassette.

In front of you, you will have the two switches 1 & 2 all the wires will be run off switch 1.

The above picture shows which wires you can run your supply off, I choose to take my earth directly off the engine, after all I had to route one wire through the firewall for the oil pressure gauge sender unit, so routing a second one was no problem what so ever.

If you run it from the dimmer, it will illuminate everytime the ignition is turned on, as the dimmer light comes on everytime. You'll want to run it from the headlight on, wire, then it will only come on, when the lights are on.

Cheers guys,
my aim is for it to illuminate only when the headlights are switched on.
As it is now its connected to the dimmer and illuminates constantly,
I'm unsure which colour the headlight connection is...
