Headlight bulb questions

Have done a search and read through the collected wisdom on changing the dipped headlight bulb (passenger side, TDI Sport). As promised it's a total pain with being so close to the battery. I managed to get in a fair old bad temper getting the old bulb out so thought I'd ask: is it just the spring clip that holds the bulb in? It doesn't twist and lock somehow?

Of course I have to find the clip first as I managed to drop it into the engine bay and couldn't find it in the dark! Thinking I'll have to take the undertray off tonight and hope it's fallen into there. If not I'm thinking I'm boned as I read on one of the other threads that you can't buy the clips. :(

Nope, there is no 'twist and lock', just the spring clip to hold the bulb in once it's been located via the little tab on the base of the bulb.

I had to change my bulbs recently and once started found it easier than expected.
Did you remove the battery cover?? If you take the top cover off the battery, you can then unclip the side cover and slide it up and out. You don't need to remove the fuse board to do this. I was advised to do this by someone on here (can't remember who!) and it worked a treat. Just gave an extra inch or two on the passenger side to gain access.
With respect to the clip, it shouldn't have fallen out. They are hinged on one side and that's bad luck you lost one. Hope you find it!

Well it's official, the spring clip is history. I guess that leaves two options:

- Make a new clip from a coat hanger or similar
- Find a scrappy and try and get one

Option 3 of "pay SEAT £103 for a new headlight" was a non runner.

So the motto is: don't lose the clip!
