head unit

im thinking of buying a new alpine head unit due to mine breaking yesterday. ive been looking at the current models and it seems to be between the 9853 and 9855. but i randomly found the newer model that doesnt seem to be out in the uk on ebay - the 9885 whcih seems even better than the 9855 and at a lower price. problem is as the head unit doesnt seem to be out in the uk it must be a us version.in this case will it still work ok in my car??

should fit mate but u might loose uk features that other headunits have, IE trafic warnings etc.

Aren't the frequency ranges different on US models? Im sure I read this a while ago.

I have a 9855 and wouldn't buy another.
Dodgy build quality.
Crap user interface.
Fiddly.

I would get a Pioneer.

i run all alpine in my car, and none of it has ever missed a beat. My advice however is dont buy off the internet, buy local, so if it cocks up warrenty wont be an issue.

the problem with the 9855 is the glide bar, alpine realised it was ****, hence why they only realeased it for a year before changing it back to buttons
