Hi,

finally got round to ordering the after market head unit fitting kit from Nexxia, who were very good btw. Now ive got to install my pioneer mp3 player.

Any tips on removing the SEAT HU and changer?

Cheers

Either go to the garage and ask them, or get an old credit card and cut two thin pieces from it (about 5mm-10mm wide) to slide in to the existing HU to release it. (May require a bit of force to pull it out)

cholangio carcenoma doh !
If that fails I used 2 hacksaw blades (taped up to protect hu) push them in and point them both towards the centre of the hu that should do it (it took me a few goes to get it right so be patient ) its a tight fit so youll have to push hard to get it back in (no smutty jokes please) hope this helps

Mark.

Changer is really easy to remove, just a few screws. The HU is the same, use the credit card as suggested above. Just shove 2 things in the small holes below the HU, and you should hear it unclip, and pull :)

I changed my Aura Single cd on Friday night. Bloody nightmare. At least with a tape desk you can stick your finger in the hole ( don't even think it ;) ) to remove it. Had to use screwdrivers to prise the thing out from the small gap between console and head unit.

Scratched the Aura to hell and back but when it goes back in when I say farewell it cannot be seen.

Replaced it with a Clarion DXZ748RMP. Quality....... :worship:

Haven got the music catcher on mine, That's the 848 init? Didn't think I would use it. Couldn't believe the difference it made to the sound in the car.. Only bit that threw me was the swapping around of the wires on the loom. Still seems to work all right.

Mate of mine was going to get the Alpine 9812RR for his Cupra TDI but has now changed his mind. Didn't want to run wires from the battery..

well after alot of force, swearing and thinking its never gonna work i finally fitted my pioneer head unit into the car (i actually did 3 installs, first without an iso adapter - the stereo still worked but only realised afterwards that it didnt save any of my settings after i switched the engine off, second i put the adapter back on the back of the HU but then realised that i couldnt get my old discs out of the CD changer because it had no power, so had to reconnect the old HU).

I havent taken the changer out yet, someone said just unscrew the screws. but i dont see any screws? are they hidden by a plastic surround or something?

also, i got the fitting kit from nexia, but i didnt fit the antenna power adapter thing? you put it onto the end of the antenna then hook it upto ISO connector 5 (or the blue wire if its already attached). i couldnt work out where to attach it, so i just left it out. seems to work ok though?!

is it worth selling the old HU + changer? or best to keep onto it. im not bothered about taking the pioneer hu out when it comes to selling, because itll be old by then...

Flat screwdriver at the top edges of the trim round the Changer will pop it off and exposes 2 torx screws.
Bang it on ebay,if you pick the right time and day to end and use the right keywords in the heading it could sell for anything from £60-£140 .It fits most VW and Skodas with alternative brackets. Put a pic on showing the connector and include part numbers too.
Wouldnt do it as a job lot though, the HU wont get that much interest.

it shouldn't be related i don't think, as all my ilumination works with no radio in (don't ask!). checked your fuses?

just removed mines there also, much easier than expected from reading some peoples experiences. use the 2 metal pins that come in the box for the new stereo, stick those in the holes under the aura and pliers on the volume control et voila, one man job :)

swapped mine today, pulled out easy (2 stereo keys and a screwy in the side) and was more of a looksee so didnt have the replacement face, fitted it nontheless and have ordered the face
wiring was easy, swapped the red and yellow to make it remember settings and used an extension wiring bit i already had in her fiesta, already had the aerial stub too

just gotta get the face in and remove the changer now, (oh and get her cd's out of it with some power oops)
sounds good but dunno if the auto 'sound up with the revs' will still work, anybody know? if its amped after the unit i guess so but maybe it isnt?
