Has my Cupra been chipped?

Recently bought a Leon Cupra and after a bit of competitive driving over the xmas period against a mate in a new ST Focus a few people reckon that mine might have more than the 180bhp it should. Is there anything i can look for to quickly determine whether there has been any modifications to the car?

cheers in advance

Matt.

buy and fit a boost gauge, its a 15 min job and if youre boosting over 10psi youve been remapped/chipped.
or as mentioned above, vagcom will tell you on a run.

around 20 mins for me including taking pics! its all in the preperation.
all you are doing really is routing a bit of piping.
the wiring takes 5-10 mins as long as you know which wires youre splicing into for light on the headlight switch for dimming etc.

Roughly between 4 - 7k rpm!
Not sure its the most ideal test. But, try finding someone else with a similar car. Do a couple of drags. See if there is any difference. A good test could be low speeds in high gears then testing the pick up. In general turbo'd cars proved alot more torque when the turbo kicks in.

Hope this helps

its the routeing that took the time.... i had no grommet.

had to send it through the bonnet cable eventually

ahh, if you lift the black bonnet/eindow plastics there is a small black box with round mouldings on it, drill through one and the pipe comes all the way into the dash...

he he... as shown in all the pics in the guides right? so imagine my suprise when i find a large white plastic box with a huge bunch of wires going in. box showed no grommet marks . my car very different from one in guide

was fun tho. feeding it in through the bonnet release cable rubber! hence my poor finishing time

To be honest, when I had my LCR and it was 1,000 miles old, I had a play with a 180 Cupra and there wasn't much in it at lower speeds... They are capable cars in a straight line. Perhaps you just gave him a good run for his money. There's only 40 brake in it and his car is loose and tight like mine was.
