Ok got myself the offical Samsung D500 bluetooth car kit!

Im going to try and install in 2mara!

Few questions I have about the installation

1. From the wiring installation diagram they are asking that I wire the positive wire to the battery, I can do this but the wire is very thin! Is it safe enough to do this?

2. Could I take the power from the headunit? Is there any problems with doing this?

3. It also asks me to wire it into the car igintion, where can I get a feed for this? Headunit again? Is there a colour the wire is usually for the iginition feed?

Any tips would help me alot 2mara
Thanks

DO NOT wire direct to the battery without a fuse.

I would pick up both from behind the head unit, perhaps nip to halfords and buy an ISO -> ISO extension leads. Then you can splice the wires from the car kit onto that via fuses. Makes it very easy to unplug then:)

Yeah I know about the fuse thing! Got that already!

I have an after market head unit already so I could splice into the ISO I had to buy instead of the cars! good idea

Thanks

What box of tricks?

I have the screen display, wiring and speaker that all the wiring plugs into!

I Take it the box of tricks is inside the speaker casing?

Ah sorry I was thinking of my nokia one not yours! lol

Where you going to mount the speaker? How bit is it?

You had me worried I was missing something!

I have a few idea for the speaker! Just under the head unit, not to sure how loud it is so havent decided! or down near the flip ashtray, it fits perfectly right at the back. Think the last opiton is the best to be honest!

Any ideas what the mute wire usually is in colour? How would I find out which one it is?

Yup found the manual online, light blue as you say!

Yeah fuses on the continuous and switched supply. They probably shipped the kit with 1A or 2A fuses which will be fine:)

Thats in the loom for the stereo.

On the Sony side of the connector you will be tapping the black for a 0V(ground) red and yellow for the switched and continuous supplies.

Did you have to swap the yellow and red wires round in the sony loom when you installed it? if so then:

The red wire as it joins the Sony loom from the car will be continuous +12V
The yellow wire as it joins the Sony loom from the car will be switched +12V(ignition)

Ok I know abit but that has got me! What you mean in simple terms by this?

From what I remember when installing my headunit I had to switch the yellow and red wires around to get it to remember the radio stations. I take it I just splice into which ever is positive now?

All I meant was a fuse on the +12V feed to your car kit and a feed on the ignition wire, exactly what you were going to do anyway:)

Yeah sounds about right having to swap them over, so that means that on the sony loom the red wire on the car side of the loom will be +12V and the yellow one will be ignition:)

Worked it out! Was being a bit lazy there but better to hear it from someone else who knows much more than I do!
