handbrake

when you put your handbrake on what symbol do you get on the dash, on mine i get a (p) at the bottom of the dash but my mate, andy ibiza, on here gets a little (i) . why are they different??

Yep it's true,

If you look at the dash you've got 2 LCD displays, the top where you light bulb comes on, traction control etc, and if i put my handbrake on i get a (!) dead centre at the top in red appear

Cupracan when he put's his handbrake on get the [P] symbol on the bottom LCD display section below where the traction control, light, etc bulbs are?

Is this something that changed over the years? his is 'X' Reg mines an '02'

Same here my mate's has a (P) and mine has a (i) there totally different, I was very confused about this as both cars are Y plates but mine has a 02 chassis and my mates has a 01 so i think thats the change, on your chassis number in the engine bay and on the V5 it will be summat like vsszzz6kz then the next number is the year chassis mine is 2. the 10th digit. hope this helps. btw my local SEAT dealer told me that

I have an 02 cupra, and bbsboy has a 01 cupra, and were have different handbrake symbols also

I have the exclamation mark also! Was slightly confused by this a while back when reading the manual.
