hi all

I was bored today so I thought i would take the car out for a spin. Came across nice big car park and thought i would try a handbrake turn. I was amazed at how easily the leon did it. Was good fun but i wont be doin it 2 often:ban:

yeah but a.b.s works off sensors so senses the rear brakes lock then releases them doesnt it?

Not too far away
ABS only acts on the hydraulic part of the system though... Im not sure how the cables opperate on the calipers but if they effectivly pull the pads on mechanically then the ABS pump cant release that pressure:)

I'll be even more impressed when you do a burnout and post pics of your car with 6 of your mates sitting on the front wings to hold it down.

Oh no, hang on, not impressed, what is the word?

Depressed. That's it.

@ Chriz1 - Surely ABS will only work off of the Brake pedal, not the Handbrake... I can't see the sense in it operating off of the Handbrake, as you'd never normally use the handbrake in day to day driving, just parking.

I've spent a day ragging the tits off New Mini's, doing handbrake turns etc. They're actually not hard to do, but it's hard to keep the front wheels spinning to give you the momentum to carry on!! Especially when you've killed the clutch like we did...

but im sure the cable operates the piston so means that it is using hydraulic system, like i say a.b.s operates off sensors on the wheels so it senses wheels locking and releases the wheels does it on mine.

Handbrake turns are worth knowing - though the best way to learn them's in the wet. All my early cars were re/rwd, which made it even more fun when you got them swinging ;)

I'm still trying to get the same with the LCR by hitting brake (left foot) and throttle hard (esp off!) but the Leon kills the fbw wire throttle too quick. :banghead:
