If it has any stitching on its likely to be 'leather'

However the Cupra handbrake cover is a lot nicer and very cheap - around £7 iirc. It fits nicely with the black/red feel and is a lot softer to touch, with its 4 red stiched lines of the car ... Id highly recommend it.

mine is leather. i think its stitched that tight that there is not much give in it and looks like plastic different to my 1.2 handbreak that was plastic.

Black Plastic 1M0 711 461 1UQ
Black Leather 1M0 711 461 A E74
Black/Red 8L9 711 463 PZE (Cupra R)

I don't believe all FR's come with a leather hanbrake cover, though don't ask e to tell you why!

Just spoke to the local dealers (MK SEAT) - i asked for the red/black leather handbrake gaitor, it's £6.87 + VAT. BUT, they want £36 for labour!!! (£36 for 30 mins work, and £72 for an hour is their labour rates!?)

Is there a cheaper way of getting it all done/fitted??

I asked if he would do it on the side and he said no, so need another solution...any help really appreciated. Seems like a nice cheap mod.

Thanks!

Its very easy:

At the base of the leather part, ease/tease/pull the leather slip towards the button about 5-10mm. On the underside of the h-brake, where the leather was, there is a little plastic clip/tab. Slide in a little flat headed screwdriver and pull the tab downwards. Then simply slip the handbrake forward towards your headunit.

If youve un-done the clip properly, it should come forward with barely any force at all!
