as above, will the gti seats (front and rear) go straight into my 1.4? the seats are fro ma 1998 16v GTi and I have a 96 1.4SE, been offered them at a rock bottom rpice

also, they dont look like they actually offer that much more support than my standard seats. do they?

you will have to either bolt in or have bolted or welded in, a small bracket which the gtis have for the split rear seats... it goes under and behind the rear seats so they can move seperately :) unsure if earlier models have the bracket holes but youll need the bracket itself

I thought SE's came with GTI seats trimmed with some boring fabric.

Do they have some kind of crest on the backrest?

I've just fitted some into my '95 MK4 Polo, and as said above you'll need the bracket unless it's still attached the the rears (which mine were), then it's just a matter of screwing the 3 bolts in (the holes should already be there, they were on my Polo and it's all the same!)

The other thing is that underneithe the GTi rear bench, there's a metal beam with some brackets (that flap about) on either end for you to bolt in, but if your 1.4 is similiar to my Polo then you'll need to saw these brackets off as the standard seats 'hook' in rather than bolt. You'll see what I mean though if this is the case, probably different but just in case!

The fronts should be a straight in job. The drivers side has height adjustment too, not sure if your 1.4 has this already though?

Out of curiosity, how much is a rock bottom price?

Hope you grabbed the fella firmly by both arms, shook them till they came off and hit him about the head with the 'bloody' bits? I know I would have for that kind of money... :)

no, i did see similar one son ebay, but these were off a mate, who bought them to put it his 1.4, but decided he was going to see how fast he could go round a roundabout instead, and just ploughed straight over it and wrote it off. his loss. now sitting proudly in my garage, waiting to be fitted

I have the cloth GTi seats in my 1.4 SXE (they came with it when i bought it) but they seem to be a bit loose (rattle or rock slightly) at the front where they slide through. is there supposed to be some kind of plastic fitting on this front slider to take out the slack (so to speak)?

Yes, there's supposed to be a rubber fitted to one side.

I would give you the part number but I can't distinguish it due to poor descriptions.
