green temp sensor vrs old black one

temp sensor question
my lc ran for 60k on the original black one. i had no cold start problems and the car ran perfectly.

i now have the upgraded green one.

why is it better than the black? does anyone know what actual differences their are between black and green?

im wondering if i could still get a new black one?

cars not been right cold start wise since the black temp sensor failed .

Dont know the difference but i recently changed mine for the green sensor as the old black 1 was bringing up an engine light almost constantly!

Green sensor has sorted that out

ross,how many are there on a 20vt?i have a green one fitted from last year ,but the cold start can be an issue.
all i can say is that it depends how the car is feeling.no fault codes,just some days is doesn't want to play,especially if its been stood for a day or so unused.

cant help but think that the cold start issue is somthing to do with the green sensor. cold surging started/or caused the blk sensor to fail. changed to green one and wont show as a fault but idle at cold is surging .


so im right in thinking the black sensor is unavailable now?

Thats correct, but ive known green ones to mess up.

I bought a new engine temp sensor from the dealer last week and it was green. The engine light kept coming on but everything is fine now.
I have no idea what the difference is though
