I've just bought a small green cleaning kit to clean my green filter before I sell it. Its done about 7k miles and never been cleaned..... so it's not too dirty.

I've just been reading the instructions and it's a bit brief.
First of all, what do they class as the inside and the outside of the filter?

Do I simply apply the cleaning solution to both sides of the filter, and the oil to only one side? I guess the oil should be applied to the side furthest away from the MAF (i.e. the dirtiest side, where most of the dirt is filtered)?
Hope this makes sense :)

Cheers

Hi i belive that they would class the outside of the filter to be the side that the air goes into the filter (unfiltered air) and the inside would be where the air has passed through the filter (filtered air).
As for cleaning the filter it is diferent from each manufacturer, but i would only apply the oil to the outside (unfiltered air) of the filter

Great, cheers guys.

Those instructions are a lot more detailed than mine.

Don't suppose it makes much difference, but on my instructions it says let the filter dry naturally?

Just to confirm, do I oil the unfiltered side of the filter?

I doubt it matters which side you oil, as it will soak into the cotton whichever side you do it from.

Just be careful not to overoil. If in doubt, do as Bill says, if anyone knows what he's talking about, it's Bill :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Gave it a good clean last night, used the whole 500ml bottle of cleaning fluid!

It's amazing how much dirt came out! As good as new now though.

Just not sure if I've put enough oil on  , I suppose too little is better than too much though.
