A few months ago, my clutch went. The warranty had expired a few months earlier. I was aware that the warranty wouldn't cover the clutch, so prepared myself for a large bill. I got a call informing me that not only did I need a new clutch, but I also needed a new flywheel.
They couldn't explain why the flywheel had got warped, but needs must, so it was replaced. The whole thing cost me about 1200 quid. given my LCR is only worth about £8000, that's a big deal.
I spoke to the service manager, who said that as it's an unexplained problem, he may be able to put in a warranty claim for the flywheel cost (£500), despite the car being out of warranty.
I chased this up a couple of times, and both times I got "We're waiting on Seat". It's now been about 3 months, and I still have £500 in limbo somewhere.
Ironically, if they hadn't offered to be nice, I'd have long forgotten about the cost, but while it's up in the air, it's a constant reminder.
I haven't mentioned the dealer's name, cos it may well be Seat's fault, but I was wondering if anyone else had any experience of this 'out of warranty - claim authorisation delay'
