last week sunday, filled up new car which is seat ibiza 1.9 tdi fr

put 36 pound in which was full tank, have so far done 340 miles and got about 65 left according to computer, so 420 miles all in off 36 pound which was a combination of road driving, around town, country roads and motorway. Would you say this was a good return in fuel consumption?

I think it's about the norm, some tight people drive like granny's and get silly 600 plus figures and some drive petrol's and get 250/300 figures offsetted against being able to rev past 4k

well i didnt drive like a granny lol, few times on the motorway i was sitting at between 80 and 90, what i noticed also in this car is it dont feel like your doing the speed it says compared to my super fast old 1.48v lol! But if thats a good mpg then im happy, use to only get 150 miles off about 20 quid in old car lol

joe averaging about 400 miles per tank, but have noticed that the trip computer tends to countdown very quickly from about 100 miles left. Not helped by the short commute to & from work!

Is it a brand new car? Or new to you? If it's brand new, you should see a couple more mpg as the engine loosens up.

I am currently averaging around 59mpg to a tank, although my last one was 60.6!!
My car is mainly driven on A-roads & motorways and I do 520 miles/week commuting to and from work so great conditions for getting a good return.

I would expect anything over 50 to be a pretty good result.

I'm glad I read this post. I bought an Ibiza 1.4 Sport earlier this month as new, & as it's my first car to have a trip computer I was really surprised to see it reading 59.6mpg average. The engine is still at the "running in" stage so I wasn't taking it above 60mph. It got me wondering just how dependable are the readings on these trip computers?

it depends on the type of driving you do I think as to how accurate the computers are.
I think the most inaccurate mine has been is around 4%, but normally it's within 2%.....
.....oh and yes, am am very geeky and note down how many miles I get at each fill up, and what the average from the computer is reading too to compare it...

Lol you aren't the only one keefy.

Just about to fill up with fuel this evening, 552.6miles on this tankful (without venting!) which I calculate to be about 55mpg. will see exactly what I got later on :D.

thats really unusual. my fr tdi only used to get like 52 at the most. iv had it remapped now and it gets less. is it just the way i drive? or could there be something else wrong? at the moment i get 400 miles out of tank max

Nothing wrong with yours it all depends how you drive... cross country B road to work mine averages 40 odd mpg, on the motorway high 50's

My fr tdi used to only get 20 mpg sometimes average  but cruise and you could get 60mpg out of it, and if i drove normalish i could get 30-35 mpg
