Golf mk4 1.4/1.6 suspension - will it fit 1.8t Cupra?

As per title, been offered a nearly new suspension kit for my 1.8t, but it's off a 1.6 Golf mk4. I know Leons and Golfs have the same chassis so will it fit OK, even though the engine size is different?

no the sprung weight will be different, as the 1.8t engine is heavier, dont fit these mate.

get some mk4 golf 1.8t or 1.9tdi springs they will fit.

Ok thanks James, the thing is, the seller says they also fit standard 1.9tdi engines??

yes 1.9tdi and cupra same springs due to diesel engine being heavier than norm aspirated petrol.

so to clarify, ant 1.8t or 1.9tdi mk4 golf or leon springs will fit....

I was curious though, as you say 1.4/1.6 won't fit, but the springs are listed for ALL engines? So surely what fits on the 1.4s will fit on the 1.8t, contrary to what was originally said?

no the weeight that the springs are designed to carry is different, i.e 1.8t carry heavier weight than the 1.4 etc...

the setps the same but the springs are different

So basically if it says it will fit the 1.9tdi, it will fit everything lighter weight than that I take it?

they will all fit, but as i say they wont handle properly as they are different weight ratings....

Not very good of them to advertise as fitting 1.4/1.6/1.9tdi when they know it won't handle properly for the heavier engines, that's what I was unsure about

Am I right in thinking 1.8t Audi A3 suspension is the same as the Leon 1.8t?

not sure on that one, i think so, but the s3 is lcr suspension.

id just stick to lc setup or golf mk4 if unsure, both 1.8t, theres no real price difference in these

I'd walk away TBH, doesn't seem he knows what will fit, he is just saying anything to get these sold
