Golf Anniv map -> Leon FR?

Given that VW are now selling a Golf GTI Anniversary with 240BHP on the same engine as the standard one, I was just wondering if anyone had loaded the map onto an FR?

As I understand it the internals are the same, so presumably it should work perfectly and potentially without any warranty issues?

Internals are not exactly the same. GTI30 shares most of its engineering with the Mk2 Leon Cupra, running stronger head and internals some elements of which it even shares with the new S3.

Turbo's are different for a start. FR has a K03s GTI30 & Cupra have a K04, the K04 is a more powerful turbo and will push higher psi than the K03s is capable of. A map from a GTI30 will be totally wrong to use on an FR.

Stick to specialist tuners, they have remaps specifically balanced to suit the setup of the car they are being used on. Most tuners will see the 200bhp FR into the 250/260 bhp region I would expect.

As Z has said the GTI30 isnt just a remapped GTi, different turbo and DV layout etc. Also loading a different ECU code to that specific for the car and physical ECU that is on there will cause it to either run horribly or not at all. There will be a specific code available for the FR.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Not that it needs the extra power - it just seemed like a "cheap" and easy option [B)]

If you don't want issues with warranty. simple, don't tune!!

At the end of the day all these companies would go out of business really fast if they were wrecking peoples cars.

However its obvious that Manufacturers and dealers don't want you messing with the car, so effectively your taking a risk by tuning. If you don't want that risk, don't tune. No dealer out there will flash any other unauthorised software onto a car it's not meant for anyway. So if you want software you have to go to a specialist.
