Hi, I won a PD150 turbo on ebay so decided to get Turbo Dynamics to do there thing on it and make it hybrid and get Sachs clutch and FMIC fitted. Will get Will at P-torque to do map and bits to car as he has is the man. Waiting to book car in at the moment but should be done by end of may hopefully :) :funk:

Just called Forge to get FMIC fitted they fully booked for two weeks :-(

if you know your way round a socket set you could fit it yourself and save a few quid ;)

it only took me a couple of hours, and you can download a fitting guide off Forge's website!;)

what stage of tune are you getting TD to work their magic too?

Sounds good to me.

You should have quite a bit of change from £2900,

I plan on taking my leon of the road next week and removing my pd turbo off and sending it to TD, I will then be fitting an oil coiler, boost gauge, and catch tank in the long light evenings.

Toying with a snow performance kit from Jabba.

Mapping I havent a clue where to go.

But good luck and i look forward to seeing your results.

Good luck with the hybrid! Hope yours goes well. Im not going to say dont use P-torque by any means - thats your choice! But I had problems, strugers1 turbo has blown up, another lad on here is having problems and another Leon turbo has blown, all having hybrids by P-torque. Like I say Im not bad mouthing P-torque - it's your choice who you go with. I just dont want you to have the problems we all had! :(

Good luck with whoever you choose - sure you'll love it :)

As has been said, few problems with the cars running hyrbids mapped by P-torque.

Not sure what the issues are, but from what has been said, only stage 1 hybrids have been ordered when customers have requested stage 2's.

Personally i would go with RS tuning in Leeds, or Jabba, in peterborough.

Both of these companies have done successful hybrid conversions on many cars, without anything like the issues coming from the above mentioned tuner.

I am not sure if it really is an issue with the turbos itself.

I dont know TD, but if they are a reputable company, I dont think they built turbos that fail again and again.

I built and rebuilt stock and hybrid turbos by myself, there are some tricks to know to make them last and keep on going strong, but I could make the best turbo in the world, if you have faulty mapping with several issues, it will blow.

My own turbo is a hybrid i built and it runs since 60.000km, including several racetrack/dyno and testing tortures...

I could write a hundred pages over what you have to look after, but all of that is a learning process which some tuners seem not to have went through...

Thing is if you have word with him, what are you expecting him to tell you? That he's no good and to find someone who can do proper custom maps?

No.

He's going to float his own boat, and tell you he is the best.

If you look at his reputation, its all for generic remaps, with people who have only ever had that map.

Im no mapping expert, but im sure he'll reply as always asking why i dont do mapping if i know so much. I personally dont know how to map a car however, i know of a few people that do, who at the moment will be reading these threads about the popping turbos and quite frankly shocking results, with a big smile on their faces, as the truth has finally shown.

i used rs tuning, quite a run from south wales, but well worth it. Can't praise them enough. I even had a broken boost pipe, and they rang around a few scrappies to find a replacement, and got it for me!

As agreed with tom, a few other people have trusted will and looks what happened, he's ordered the wrong turbos etc and just sticking them on without even checking, my honest opinion is to use AmD, jabba etc for hybrids or turbo conversions

It sounds like Will has had a bit of bad luck with a few hybrid conversions, I bet he has done quite a few and you only hear of things when they go wrong. I appreate all your advice but i know of a few hybrid conversions will has done that are still running just fine. I guess like you all said its a learning curve. We are all human after all. I still think Will is a top bloke and will do a great job. He may not be a big setup but he is honest and does know alot about maps.

If you call ordering the wrong, cheaper turbo's bad luck, then yes i guess so.

Please do name these ones still running fine.

So did struggers, and Ash (Ibiza 130 tdi), but look how they ended up.

No offence, but just because your happy with your stage 1 map from him, doesnt mean he's good. Not many people are aware, you can actually download the codes for stage 1 remaps off the internet, and then install them on to the car.
Ive yet to hear anyone ranting and raving about how good his "custom" maps are.

If you dont want to take advice from myself, and many others then fine, so be it. But everyone will be quick to laugh at you when your on here a month or so later with a popped turbo, or limp mode issues.

Perhaps Will might pick up his game this time? Just a bit coincidental that at least 2 of the few done have been the wrong turbo's, and are cheaper than the stage 2 PD150.

I am currently away in Mexico.

All I can say is we have had problems with TD turbos, and will not be using them anymore in the future.

We currently have a customer who has TD Stage 2, and it now seems the vains are sticking already

We fitted another turbo hybrided by them which smoked and had to be repaired under their warranty as they had made an error on a seal tolerance.

We are now is discussions with CR turbos to use their turbos instead.
