gotta drop it now, I don't think there is anything to connect the hoist to!

bock bock bock, chicken!

Hope you've kept the headlamp wiring marked up - which side is which etc.

Yeah, just need help to do it, I'm not gonna faf with the engine on my own... When Matt comes over next we'll roll it out no problem now all the bolts are undone :D

didn't label the headlight wiring but one is longer than the other so it might be difficult getting the sides wrong

basically - if you can remove the alternator, Power Steering pump & flywheel in situ then that will make it a lot easier than when it's rolling around on the floor.

whipping the gearbox off first, makes the unit half the weight too :) and you want to keep that in good nick, so you don't really want to roll that off.

Alternator is gone, not taken the PAS pump off yet though. Guess the water pump could come off at the same time.

Which bits the flywheel?

Oh and how do you take the gearbox off the engine? There are 3 mounts holding the whole lot in so surely you can't tka eone out and leave the other in situe that easily?

stick a brick under the sump at the end (since the short engine is scrap anyway it won't matter if the sump is marked)

undo all the long bolts all the way round the 'box (should be about 8 I think) and slide it off.

Ant FR - erm not really lol. I'll probably wait until I have the cash and see whats about. Probably the VR6 though.

Gotcha Mark, hold the engine up and undo the gearbox and then slide the gearbox off and down then roll the engine off yeah?

if you strip everything you can off the engine, 2 of you should be able to remove box and engine together - also, if you drop the sump off, you will be able to remove the big ends and take the pistons and rods out, again lightening the job. Then just stick the sump back on once its out of the car

disconnect driveshafts, clutch cable, exhaust manifold,

disconnect single bolts that fasten engine/gearbox to car (3 of them, front, rear, gearbox rear)

2 strong lads, lift the lot out.

I think your screwdriver is a little bent !

Yeah BlackFR broke the "Oil filter removal tool" but it came in handy to open the wiring loom clips

I've had an idea for engine removal... Push car forwards onto drive, jack up and support engine, undo the bolt holding the front subframe on and lower car back down, push car backwards away from engine :D No need to find "2 strong lads" then :roflmao:
