Getting a New Original Key, NIGHTMARE?

:confused:OK, before anyone says it, I have used the search but this is a case which I think is a little different from most.

Basically I have been blowing fuse nr 14 on a fregular basis, (remote central locking/interior light/electric windows & mirrors)

THrough process of elimination, I established that it was something to do with the locking that is blowing the fuse.

On saturday the engine management light came on, the fault code reffered to the immobiliser transponder or something i.e. the remote key.. The guy who read the codes saidf that getting a new keyt should solve the problem

The stealer has quoted £55 + VAT for key and 70 + VAT for programing.:censored:

It's currently the old style blip key. So to get a completely new key can I tr5y and find one at 433 hertz on ebay, then gert the blade cutr at locksmiths, then program the key using the two key dance.

Following this I presume I can just pay for the immobiliser programming at the stealer. Could someone who knows more please confime/clarify please?????????????

I got the whole new flip key sorted fot about £50. Blade + cut , fob and new transponder.
As you said the tricky part is getting the immob code sorted. I did get the dealer to do it for nothing while the car was in for other work so the £50 is a bit deceiving. However if you can remove the transponder from your non-flip key or you can locate someone local who has VAG Com then it can be programed for some beer tokens :)

I would still try to find your other issue of the CL fault. Not sure how a faulty key would cause a fuse to blow regular. It would more than likely point to something else. Possibly the door locking mechanism.

Hiya mate, well this is what is confusing me because I took the car in when it was blowing fuses, a seat mechanic briefly looked at the car, he szaid he had never seen the fault before, so when the car came up with the key transponder fault, it just seemed obvious.

So if i go down the ebay route will it just be a case of getting the key programmed to the car?

Yep new fob, get the blade cut, you can program the CL yourself and then pay or get someone to code the immob transponder.
