 Hey all,

After a good 6 months of waiting in anticipation, the time has finally come :)

I have been driving a Rover 25 gti for the past few years and have to say that it has been quite a pleasant experience. They are pretty nippy little cars and the handling on them are not bad either.

I have always wanted a Cupra R 225, but all my friends and relatives told me to keep away from SEAT
Don't know why. They all suggested a Civic?

I tried the type-r and really wasn't blown away by it. It felt as if the engine was wanting to blow up and also made me feel like I was trying to evade the police.

However, I eventually got a test-drive in one of the Seat's the other day (a hard feat up here in Scotland), and was totally blown away by the overall package. [B)]

The garage I went to just gave me the keys and told me to go for a spin on my own

The car is exactly what I expected. It is very quick, built exceptionally well and looks mean.

I will have a good look through the forum, but I would just like to ask other owners their opinions and ways of ensuring that the car is kept in good condition (engine).

Not really had to worry about this before, but I am planning on keeping this car for at least 3 years and I do about 25000 miles a year.

Really can't wait til next week. just waiting for a reg transfer and I'll soon be loving it.:D

Hello there, welcome to the family. 25k a year? I do about the same, and was in similar shoes to yourself. I eventually decided to spend a little extra and get the TDI Cupra, and remap to 200bhp. I work out it saves me about £2000 a year with diesel, tax, insurance savings, plus pretty much guaranteed 200k miles.

The SEAT's have such a bad history, everyone warned me to stay away, I dont think people realise they are built by Audi and VW engines etc. There's not much difference to a A3 or Golf.

You will love it mate, seldom hear a bad report!!

Excellent choice of car, you will totally love it! It's a much easier car to live with and drive than the Type-R, IMO.

I would be very worried about your fuel bill though! 25k miles a year in a car that does 27MPG on average is going to be expensive!

I think a Cupra TDi and a remap would suit your driving better personally. But, it is of course your money and if you enjoy it then it's worth every penny :D

You ve made a good choice, you may have the odd niggle but thats cars for you. The LCR is a breeze to drive and the economy can be pretty good depending on the length of your runs, motorways you can get a good return.
Dont worry about the badge issue, I came from a history of Toyotas and the LCR is the best all round package by a fair way, plus remember most bods have never even hear of an LCR let alone driven one. Had mine 15 months and I still get people asking me what it is.
Carefully check the history and enjoy.
