I am really interested in buying a leon 20v t. How reliable are these cars? I heard they have the same engine as a golf, Do the also have the same gearbox?

Well on my old MK4 Golf GTI 1.8T 20v I sold it with 145k on the clock!! The engine was excellent and pulled very well. (it was also re-mapped by upsolute). The engines can last a long time as long as serviced well.

Only thing to watch is regular oil changes, make sure cambelt is done on time and the waterpump has been changed with the cambelt as the plastic OEM part is prone to fail (plastic brittle part). I also had to replace my oil pump at 130k miles.

All in all I have never had a issue with the 1.8 20v T block.
Loads of info on the site in regards to servicing, buying guides etc

Awesome car go buy one now.I have had mine for one year so far.Its a cupra T running around 220BHP with the odd mod.Fantastic car, great value and I have not had a days problem with it.My friend had a golf nearly the same engine but a lot slower. His golf had a 5 speed box while nmy leon has a 6 speed box.
The only problem I have had with my cupra is that it guzzles petrol but then why buy a car with a turbo if you are going to drive economic.
