Gearbox removal and replacement

Hi guys, I know this is fairly simple but I just need someone to run through with me on how to remove my gearbox.

So far I got, Disconnect the battery, clutch cable, speedo meter and reverse light indicator.

Next I need to jack the car up on the gearbox side? Remove the wheel. Then unbolt the driveshafts and knock them out.

Then I need to support the engine with a jack or axle stand. After that unbolt the bolts around the bell housing and gearbox mounts.

Remove the gearbox. Replace clutch release bearing and anything else i am going to replace. Then put everything back in as I removed it?

Just want to make sure this is correct? :) if not could someone be so kind to write up an idiots guide for me? :) It would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys

to get the shafts out you will need to undo the bottom ball joint bolts on the gearbox side so you can swing the shaft out of the way.

hey they r one of the easyest boxes to remove u can change of u cant split the balljoint the easy option is to undo the 2 bolts that conect the hub to the strut it gives u enough room to get the shafts out but u need to unbolt the shafts on the gearbox side and u need a 8mm multi spline torx bit if i can rember right :) hope that helps

easier to take the 3 bolts out of the bottom arm than the 2 strut ones as it will mess the camber up.

support the engine with a trolley jack, and undo the gearbox mounts and which ever other mounts would stop the engine fromt tilting down at the gearbox end... itll be easier to pull the box off if you can angle the engine down a bit on this side... Your struggle will be putting it back on if youre not too strong, get a mate to help you put it back on struggling on your own isnt fun

Cheers guys :)

just a quick question, do you know where my actual gearbox code would be located on the gearbox? I am having trouble finding it. I need the code off the gearbox to give to a supplier so they can match it. I cant look on my boot lid or timing belt cover because the stickers are not there lol.

Thanks again

Theres a code on the drivers side of the gearbox near where the driveshaft connects.

I found the driveshaft bolts are impossible to get off (the gearbox side), my M8 spline key/bits didn't seem to fit in properly (M8 seems too big?) so they just slipped and made a mess so I gave up lol. So be careful with them if you are doing it :)

I didnt look at the spline I used lol, m8 sounds about right. Got them out with no fuss lol. But then again my gearbox was taken off a mere 2 years ago also :)

you'll find with most new cv boot kit they supply allen bolts to replace the splines.
if they are hard to gey the m8 in, hammer it in or you wreck the splines.
did your gearbox go or the clutch?
also drop that side of the engine as much as you can to make the line up easier?
