Gearbox Ratios

Just been sorting out a box and i've been lookin at the gear ratios,

1st - 3.300
2nd - 1.944
3rd - 1.308
4th - 1.029
5th - 0.837
FD - 3.389


Now that seems like long gearing is there any mileage in changing the final drive to say something like 3.684 from an 02A box to get up the gears quicker like i've read on the ABF engines or you think the gearing is fine 300+bhp?

Also the calulator puts the theoretical top speed at 177 at standard ratios.

Thanks bill, i was lookin at that the other day. I think any higher 3.9 etc.. would annoy me at motorway/cruising speeds (not that i drive it much now anyway).
