it's more than likely 02A, as it's with the ABF engines
is it cable change?
pretty sure the 1.6 SX 'box is the 020 'type', same as in the 2.0 8v. DGG will be the 'code' of the box itself, giving an indication of what gearing etc is inside the 020 'shell'.

thats what i was thinking 020 bieng the type of box
i dont quite get it, but basically there's an 020, 02A and 02J box that'll fit the 16v and 8v engines
as far as i know its like this
ibiza GTi 8v and 1.8 16v, Golf mk2 16v and 8v, Golf mk3 Gti 8v - 020 (rod change), but have a weak diff, thats why mine went
Ibiza 16v(ABF) golf mk3 GTI - 02A, cable change, and stronger diff, which is what i'm changing to
20vT - 02J
sorry about that useless babble
just to add - all of which have a varying option for many gear and/or final drive ratios too
it'll start whining, it'll get worse and worse
basically, from taking mine apart and having a look (cos i like destruction) the 020 diff is riveted together, where the 02A diff is bolted, and can take heavy loading better, the rivets will pop eventually, depends how you drive
mine gave no sign of going though, or i couldnt hear it over the charger
mine'll be up for sale soon, freshly reconned, under 1k on it
will let you know though mate
