yeah i agree, 2000rpm @ 80mph on a sport. Quite good on a motorway run really, jus i find this slightly different to my previous Bora 6speed, in the bora i could sit @ 70 in 6th and it would have loads of go...

the ibiza prefers 5th for more power, and then back to 6th :)

JK

edit: good work tho mike, knowing u you probably actually tested those revs/speeds too - on the JBS test track :)

It does mean you can get 180-185MPH out of 6th if you had the power though :D

Oh and btw Mike, i want my Laptop and VAG COM back thank you very mucho! ;)

The FR has shorter gearing than the Sport.

How do these differences in gearing between the sport and FR compare on the road?

Looks like (new graph added by Ed) that there is very little difference between 1st/3rd but the 4th on Ed's (Sport) is very long, whilst Mike's (FR) has a longer 5th) to just about make it even.

Ed's RPM drops to 3.5k whilst changing into 4th, Mikes stays with the peak power of 4k.

On the road, well this means Mikes whoooops Ed's ass :p

/me waits for the reply :D

Cheers for the extra info on the 130 sport for those people that dont know about the different ratios between to two! :)

Come on guys lets get a whole bunch going, 1.2, 1.4 etc etc etc

If you want PM the findings to me and i will stick them in my first post!

The 6th gear ratio for the 130 PD Sport should be 37.5mph/1000rpm, which would mean 75mph @ 2000rpm (exactly what mine did).

Remember there will be inaccuracies due to speedo error (even between same models of car), aftermarket wheel/tyre sizes etc, which is most likely why your speedo is reading 80 instead of 75.

:bleh: <- Sparks licks Mikes bum. 2 words, Santa Pod... 0.4secs reaction and i can see him off for over 1/4 mile. Good enough for me :D

As for what muddy said, i do agree it wasnt GPS verified, but last time i checked, my speedo was 1mph out at 100mph and i remember it reading 2500rpm. I think i need a play sometime...

When's the best time to change in an FR when doing timed runs etc? Late for power / early for torque etc?

Depends how your car is set up? Is it standard? Have you had it on some rollers?

When mine was standard I found 4k best for changing.

Yeah the car is standard. I will give 4k a try and see what it's like. Cheers :)

If you give it more (to what I can remember) you feel the revs going up but there is very little pull, mostly due to most of the torque and bhp going after 4k.

With my remap 4.5k is the max I take it to, as I get the same feeling after as I would with it std at 4k if that makes sense?!

LOL, good look :d

I find 5th gives better economy on the motorway than 6th at speeds upto 80-90.
