Gear Knob

Never been bothered to change the gear know on my Ibiza (had it almost 3 years now). I've always liked the standard tip it comes with.

Anyway, I noticed the other day whilst cleanin the car that some of the gaiter is starting to wear a little thin and some of the white fabric beneath the black "leather" is beggining to show. Anyway, long story short. I wanna take off the gear know to replace the gaiter (and possibly the knob itself). But how do I get it off?

On my old Escort it was just a simple "unscrew" job. And i remember on my mates Clio we had a similar problem to what I have now, but he just took a hacksaw to it

But is there a proper way to take it off?

if it's anything like my old car, you REALLY have to just yank it off.

lots of twisting while you do it should soon 'shift' it. no pun intended

take up the gaitor and have a look how does it look down there? alternatively go register at vagcat.com where you can see etka diagrams online and it may give you idea how to take it off
