Morning everyone,

well ive noticed this over the past couple of days, was wondering if i was just driving like a spazz, but i made a point of testing it this morning again.

Basically its when i change from 1st to 2nd, im getting like a grinding sound, as if you was trying to put it into reverse while going along.

Now im not reving the shite out of it, and my clutch foot is fully to the floor.

Any ideas? Im thinking i should get it looked at cos its only a year old.

Thanks people

Mine does the same when im giving it some. If i accelerate hard in 1st then go for second to grinds and i have to slow right down to get the gear in.

LOL just phoned seat, bloke goes "are you driving it like a maniac?"

I said "No this is changing at 3k revs, but its a quick car mate im not always gonna be driving it at 30mph LOL!!!"

Going in on friday so we're see what they say, i dont expect a year old car to be doing that tho and its only from 1st to 2nd.

yeah its happened to me to, i think i change the gear at too many revs and release the clutch before its in gear!!!! dont do it to offen coz it will wear the gears down quicker and cause metal **** in the gear box oil!!!!

Got the same problem with my car, it went back to the dealers the other week and all they said was "it didn't do it for us". That's not really much help to me if I can't drive my car properly without fear of it crunching into gear and looking like a prat, basically if I need to be away off the mark quickly i.e roundabout I abandon 2nd totally and go from 1st to 3rd. Going to phone up again shortly and get them to take it back in and get something done.

sound like you got a really sour lemon of a car there crafoo :( if its in warranty write down EFVERY SINGLE PROBLEM and issue you have and drop the car with the keys off to them and TELL the sales manager to ring you when they are all sorted

Yep it's a real winner [:@] I have done what you have suggested already mate, gave him the keys and said "I don't care how long you have the car just give it me back when it's sorted" 3 days later got the call saying "yep it's all fixed and working great" 2 minutes down the road the same problems still remained, couldn't turn straight round and bollock the service manager because at the time I picked my car up they had all gone home :D

Took the car in again last week I think it was, it was there all week, monday to friday to fix 3 main problems.

1. The one that is really annoying me is the knocking from the front of the car over certain road surfaces.

2. Creaking passenger seat.

3. Gear change from 1st to 2nd.

Got told Friday that all of the above were sorted and the gear change issue never happened while they drove the car, (fine I thought, if they have solved the other two problems I will be almost happy) Passenger seat creaking started again literally 2 minutes down the road, the knocking started the day after, and the crunching gear change is still there.

Yet another week without my car and i'm still no further forward. I always thought the Alfa Romeo dealers were supposed to be shite [:@]

Just got off the phone with the Dealers and have been told that "we are at a loss now and don't know what to do" I then got told that they are going to get some random Seat Technician to look at the car but according to the service manager, on previous experience it could take 6 to 8 weeks before someone gets round to it

I also mentioned the Gear crunching issue I had and they guy said that because they couldn't replicate it (not sure how, it's seems pretty bloody easy to me) they can't fix it, because to them it's a problem that isn't there

I really wish petrol wasn't so expensive because I would buy a can full, torch the car and buy something good. [:@][:@][:@][:@] I really have had more than enough of this car and Seat Dealers.
