Gator removal

No not the crocodile kind but the gear gator, i have bought a replacement gear knob, the leather one on the seat site to replace my FR one, now i can remove the trim ok but cant get the gator out from the console, it doesn't appear to be like the VW golf one were you push the leather in and grab and pull out. and the plastic console marks easy even with plastic tool prise open, anyone managed to remove one yet?
Seat dealer wants £23 to fit it.

ah ha. Just fitted my new knob tonight.... there are three clips if you feel under the gaitor at 3 oclock 6 oclock and 9 oclock you will feel them. Push the one at 9 towards the centre first and pull up the gaitor then the one at 6 and pull the gaitor up a bit more then finally the one at 3 and the bottom half is then released. Top half just slides out.

there's a jubilee clip type ring around the base of the gear knob as far as i remember. Force it apart with a screwdriver and bob's your uncle
