Is there a way to affix the fuel caps to the car in anyway so it doesnt dangle on the body work?

Thanx!

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
i can put it on but you can bet 8/10 times i knock it off anyway with the nozzle. rekon its just better to place it into its natural hang, clouting it with the nozzle must be worse.

It is bad especially when seemingly just as simple methods work really well. Our civic one is brilliant.. It has a little ball that just hooks into a groove and it hangs below the cap away from the body. Im sure the leon ones could be adapted to work in a similar fashion with a hunt in B&Q for some bits and bobs.

I would have though a magnet stuck to the cap with some soft material to prevent scratches would work well to hold it against the bodywork. Not sure if you can extend the 'cable' it is held on with.

Or glue a magnet to the cap and inside the fuel cover ;)

I found out I can hang the cord bit over the catch on the flap and it works.. perhaps a little groove cut out at the widest point of that would do the trick.

sounds like the fuel cap is similar to my audi where the cap has 2 notches as reported by Chris. what i just do is hang the cap onto the fuel cover/flap using the 2 notches when filling up

Carnivor - the trick to stop knocking into it is to hang the fuel cap on the outside of the fuel cover/flap, that way it is completely out of the way and shouldnt interfere with access to the tank

g :)
(i dont have a leon yet so please dont :rifle: me, just trying to help)

yes - I undo the cap, then wrap it over the open filler flap with the bit you grab facing inwards - It works atreat - it dosent fall off and scratch the body and there is nothing to knock when taking out the nozzel.
