fumes

Getting a really strong smell of diesel fumes from the car mostly when starting up, it stinks. wondering if theres maybe a hole in the exhaust at the front or something. Any ideas?

With the windows up? If im de-watering my windows of a morning i usually get a fair old whiff of the black stuff. So long as its not billowing black smoke from a cold start then i wouldnt worry. May be worth getting your codes read on Vag-Com or a general code reader to check coolant temp sender ect.

Nah, no black smoke. Funny you should mention the coolant temp sender, plugged in vag com a few weeks ago and it came up with that, So i changed it. No more EML. i've noticed tho that if the car hasnt moved for a few days when its cold, which is quite regular because i use the bike for work, that the temp gauge flashes and beeps when i start the engine, done this before and after i changed it

owh thats ment to be common on the PD's cant remember what resolves it though. Have a search, it was mentioned recently, someone was saying they went to a dealers i think who changed the coolant level sensor and expansion tank, im sure that was the thread. sorry i cant be of much more help! lol

All you need to do to stop that is to slightly overfill the coolant bottle.

or scrap the prongs clean inside of the built gunk on them

ah right. magic, i'll do that at the weekend. I changed the coolant temp sensor a couple weeks ago aswell
