Just in case anyone would like to carry a full-sized spare in their Ateca, I can confirm it can be done. I've just fitted a full 18'' alloy and tyre in my daughter's Ateca. Here is how:
It'll only fit in the 2WD car. The 4WD has a higher floor and can take a space-saver but not a full-sized wheel.
Seat do not make a suitable kit but Skoda do. The part number is: 57A093860C We bought this kit new from a local Skoda dealer for about £150. I've seen it for as much as £230 but don't pay that.
This kit is designed to allow the 4WD Karoq to take a space-saver but the wheel well in the 2WD Ateca gives you the extra depth for a full-sized wheel.
The kit is very comprehensive and includes:
New, larger boot floor.
Three foam inserts to go around the wheel.
Jack.
Wheel brace.
Wheel clamp and nut (which will fit an alloy)
Also included are fixings which you don't need as the fixing studs are not present on the 2WD Ateca.
Fitting:
Remove the standard insert and tools.
The standard inset is held in place by a threaded stud at the back of the wheel well. You'll need to cut that stud off as it will foul the tyre on a full-sized wheel.
Fit the wheel clamp.
The plastic boot trim/support for the standard boot floor fouls the full-sized wheel and pushes it forward slightly. It will still fit but a better solution would be to cut about 10mm off the plastic trim/support. I might do this in the summer but the wheel will fit as it is.
Fit the new foam inserts around the wheel. The long one next to the seats is a tight fit and could probably use having a little trimmed off the edge but it will fit as it is.
Transfer all your tools over and you're done.
Your boot floor now sits about four inches higher but it still looks factory. The larger boot floor supplied with the Skoda kit fits perfectly.
This is a great solution for those not comfortable relying on a tub of glue to get you home. With a full-sized spare you swap the wheel and carry on your day.
