I’m looking to get my CarPlay activated in my SEAT Leon 2016 (pre-facelift), I’ve heard I have to change the usb port to a MIB2 and then someone can unlock it, is there anything else to it? I have no idea what to do

Thank you in advance

Hi Todd. Have you seen a message that says something like 'You can activate the function by means of an activation key. Please contact dealer'?
If you have a 2016, you should have a MIB2 unit, so the existing USB port in the centre console should be fine. I think you only need to replace it if you have a MIB1 unit. If you screen measures 5.8" diagonally, you have an MIB1. 6.5" is MIB2.
If you do see the message and have an MIB2, you can get it activated by one of the forum sponsors, East Yorkshire Retrofit Solutions. https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.uk/collections/seat-leon-mk3/products/seat-full-link-activation

Yes I do see that message and I think it is a 6.5” inch screen anyway it’s near enough the size of my iPhone 13 Pro Max, & j called them yesterday but they are quite a drive away from me I’m based in the midlands.

They can activate it remotely and did a great job activating mine recently.
You may need to change the usb to a newer model if you use an iPhone - I'm android so didn't need to.
Would this be MIB 1 or 2 by any chance you know ? (See attached). Got the same thing, says need to contact dealership for full link activation

Did you get your Carplay sorted? I can recommend Eastyorkshireretro, they remote updated my 65 Leon to android auto the other day (I have an OBD11 scan tool) but for carplay I would have needed to change my USB port, which seems pretty simple to swap (and they sell one).

Can I ask how you got on?
I have the same unit but I think its MIB1 as its different to the model shown on the retrofit picture model.
I'm thinking of visiting a dealer to make the upgrade in the new year.

Found a guy in Leicester, Vag Coding Leicester LTD, did the job in 40mins, and as I only wanted Android Auto I didn't need to change the USB port. £100 all rounds

Anyone know if there is a known problem with the dealer full link activation upgrade? We've been waiting for a month for the local dealer to activate iton our 2015 FR Technology (2016 model year).

There was an initial delay of a fortnight getting the code and a part from SEAT, then when they tried to activate it, it wouldn't take and just threw up error messages.

Shortly after trying ours, they tried another activation for another customer with a different model (didn't say what) and that failed too. They said they've done these regularly for customers and these are the first failures. They've been trying to find out what the issue is from SEAT.

Anyone know if there is an acknowledged issue?

(And before anyone asks why we went to a main dealer; there don't seem to be any local aftermarket installers (we're in West Sussex). We contacted one in the companies in Yorkshire, who advertise a remote service, but were told we'd need a USB port upgrade and a copy of ODBEleven or VCDS to program it. The total price was the same as getting the local main dealer to do it.)
