Just got home from work and noticed a petrol smell as i got out of the car. i had filled up 5 mins earlier (with v power which is really upsetting me) and now it is finding its way onto my driveway... anyone else had this prob so early on..

it seems to be coming from the pipe that goes over (and is rubbing on) a hanger just after the pump. i can here it hissing and it seems to be taking in air as i can hear the bubbles going into the tank..

Hi mate,

I had the same thing about 6 months ago...................ended up being the bracket that holds the fuel filter on had rubbed through the casing of the filter and was causing a leak.

Might not be the same as your problem but its worth a look.

Cheers

thx Lee.

i've just had Seat assistance out. as soon as i said fuel leak they wouldnt let me take it to the garage. they said they would recover it and give me a car whilst it gets repaired..... i was quite impressed but said i would rather keep my car. they sent an AA blokey out and he found that the breather pipe had a hole in it. he put some putty around the pipe until Seat can get the pipe in.

Does that mean you're back on the road again then? Any news on when Seat will have the right parts for you?

its been stinking for a while but no sign of a leak.. My MPG has also been bad for the last couple of tanks so hopefully this will sort it all out..

i wonder if it effects performance.. or am i just hoping my car can go quicker..

Wishful thinking... I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could create a technical reason why it would affect it, but it's wishful thinking ;)

I think the pressure being lost through the fuel-lines would be effecting the general gravitational forces acting on the car. Generally speaking, your centre of gravity will be affected by this issue.. my personal thought is that repairing the line will result in a 33-67BHP increase.

How's that? :D

I tell you what... just get a mate to follow you with some matches, setting fire to the line of petrol left behind you. If anything is going to make your car go faster... it's a line of fire following you ;)

RobM you old man genius! How excellent an idea is that?! You'd need some nice camcorder action going on, also. Possibly mounted to the rear bumper to show some nice "blazing speed" glory!

lol... i darnt mention my age then..

i knew it was wishful thinking but you cant help it popping into your head.

sort of off topic but my previous tank of fuel was the worst ever for performance.. car seems fine now its on v power but BP ultimate is a definate no go for me in the future.

I use BP Ultimate as often as I do standard 95RON, only if I have to. I don't rate the stuff and it's expensive.

For me, it's Tesco99. Excellent price and I've seen so much positive feedback about the juice that I'm happy to fill with it all the time. Secondly, it's V-power. etc. etc.

No Ultimate!
