Fuel Leak from Filler Neck - SOLVED

Guy's,

just thought I'd put a post up with the solution that Seat in Northampton found for my fuel leak problem, because when I searched for help there were no solutions only threads which asked for help.

Firstly, I must say the service from Seat Northampton has been the best experience I have had with a garage since I started driving! Total cost for the car to be inspected and fixed £45.00 - a nice bonus when I was expecting to be told I needed a new fuel tank and pump.

The problem was caused by the former owner or a previous garage being a total pleb. Under the bonnet there are 3 pipes on the drivers side for the fuel lines, 1 is the main fuel supply line, then the breather pipe then a 3rd (can't remember what they said it was for).

Basically, someone had disconnected these pipes and missed the colour coding when putting them back together and decided the fuel supply line should go straight into the breather pipe = fuel going straight back to the filler neck and out onto the road.

Seat have no idea why this was done, or why my car wasn't running rough!! Heopfully now it will be even smoother and maybe get better than 26 mpg on a run!?

I will get a couple of photo's up later to show what I mean.

Hopefully this will help someone out in the future.

Seems strange to have always been like it, but maybe. Not under warranty, as not brought from a seat dealer. only 45 quid so not too worried about it. car is running so much better now, and i thought it was good before!?

Think you'll find the warranty is valid regardless of whether you bought from a dealer or not, so long as it's still in the warranty period.
Bought mine private with a year left on the warranty and i've had warranty work done (front door seals and screenwash bottle replaced) with no problems or questions asked.
