Hello everyone, I have experienced a recent fuel gauge problem with my 07 1.4 (80hp) TDI Ibiza.

Normally if I am driving all highway, I can get around 800km to the tank, which will result in my filling about 41L.

On a recent road trip I had checked and was at about 420km at the half tank mark. I manage to drive about 150km and was surprised by the ding of the low fuel light. The gauge is reading nearly empty with only about 575km travelled. I filled up and only put 32L in. Even driving all city/around suburbs area I get about 650-675 to a tank so I am very confused.

Do these cars have issues with fuel gauge sending units as they get older? It's got about 205,000km on it.

Mine was showing not far above the 1/4 line when i pulled up at a set of traffic lights. I then heard the ping as the low fuel light came on and when i looked at the gauge it had dropped off the scale. It remained like that for the next two days until i filled the tank. That was about a year ago and no issues before or since. I sometimes think that cars just cry out for attention...
It's currently on 165k miles which is about 265,000km
