Fuel economy very poor on 1.6 tdi cr

I have had my car for 4 weeks!!

I basically do motorway drivin and at moderate speed say 70mph!!

However i dont even get 40 mpg!!!!

I thought combined driving was 67 mpg and extra urban 76 or something like that

What is wrong??? I mite as well have a petrol car!!

Any1 else with same car got any verdict on this??

I have the 1.6 TDI and I get 42mpg on short journeys and in town, then on motorways I get like 60ish. So no complaints here, only had mine a month to so probs get better.

Either there is a problem (unlikely) or you are just driving it wrong. Is this your first diesel?

My daughter has a 14sc se and dose moterway driving to work she gets about 43mpg, I have a 2009sc ibiza with the old 19 tdi only doing town driving and if I keep to the speed limits will get 45 to 48 mpg, and on a run well over 55mpg. May be after a few thousand miles it will improve if not take it back. You will never get what the manufacure says, as much as 10 mpg out as you cant drive the same as the car is tested.

I had mk 4 ibiza fr tdi easily getting 50's all day long if not 60 if cant be bothered to drive. Even driving hard high 40's. Test drove 1.9tdi with 1000 miles on - didn't want to wait for new ibiza fr/cupra/boc - only got 44mpg in that and scraped 50 on motorway. I ended up with the leon 2.0 tdi - that claims combined of just over 50 - i'm lucky to see 40! Dealer said "reset all your clocks" sometimes it gets stuck doing low mpg"
My dad has golf - same engine bhp etc and i can get 55mpg in his. Seems to be the odd duff engine doing poor mpg?

Send it back to seat see what they say
