Fuel cap valve

Filled up with fuel at lunchtime today, and when I took the nozzel out of the tank I noticed that the metal valve at the top of the tank (the bit where you stick the nozzel through) was missing
I suspect that its got pushed down the pipe into the tank?
Does anyone know if this will be a problem? I don't want it to get stuck in the tank and cause problems.

Shouldn't have thought it would cause you any problems! Have you got a long magnetic rod? You could use that to get it out?

I have as it happens - just recently got one. Will it stick to anything else (presumably the tank is not magnetic).

Wont have fallen far as there will be an anti-siphoning thingee -me-bob in that pipe somewhere so will probably be resting on that
