sounds like one of my front speakers has given up playing tunes in favor
of farting noises instead.

how easy (step by step) is it to remove front door cards to replace them?

Thanks
Ian

no doubt this has been mentioned before - so i'll apologise now for being a lazy git and not doing a search.

If you just want an easier basic upgrade without going all out ive gone for some Alpine E Series 1350's. Get em for about £35 a pair and they sound MUCH better than the originals with my Alpine HU. Going to install similar components in the back too this weekend...

NOTE: Youll need to get/make some spacers so that the rear of the speaker doesnt hit the window. My alpines are thin but still needed about 8mm extra gap, watch out cos too big a spacer means youll end up having to make a hole in your door cards!

At a guess they will be the standard VAG ones at 165mm, so that's of quite cheap construction with a cardboard cone.

Putting upgraded speakers in the rear door cards is a waste of time and money!! Put the money into a decent amp and component set up front and disconnect the rears.

MB Quart components up front and MB Quart 2 ways in the rear panels for me. Kenwood 2 channel running components up front. If I hadnt gone for the 2 ways I would have put a sub in the boot.

I've just had 6x9s with an accoustic rear shelf fitted and the sound has improved no end. The sound is now balanced and so much 'fuller'.

The 6x9s are not the most powerful but they do have punch. Unless a decent Sub and Amp is installed i expect that any bass that is produced is drowned out by the road noise?
