Hello All i'm new to this forum business but have just about had enough of garages telling me there is nothing wrong with my beautiful car when I know there is, i just know it:cry:

Basically the suspension on the passengers side went, then the spring (only 48k on this car but anyway) there had been an oul squeaking in the front passenger side ever since I got the cv boots replaced, i brought it back and they said the roll bar had moved, blah blah blah.

Brought it to two further garages who said there was nothing wrong with it, am i correct in thinking there should be a rubber bush on each side of the roll bar just where it exits??? the last place i took it to said something was missing and a welded a piece of metal to stop it moving, its still SQUEAKING!!!

I would be very grateful if someone could confirm, i know this is a dead simple thing to ask but i seriously have lost the will to live, even the SEAT garages in Belfast are crap!!!![:@]

On the anti roll bar are two metal brackets, one each end, under which are two bushes... the metal bracket bolts to the sub-frame... bushes wear out and sometimes its easier to buy a new (excuse for bigger/better) one!

I've had the same squeaking and knocking noises from my front end. Basically Ibiza anti roll bars are crap. They are held on with the rubber bushes as you mentioned and have plastic washers either side to stop it moving too much. After time the plastic parts wear out and can even fall off (as in my case). This means that the bar is free to move....squeaks and knocks against other suspension parts.

What you need is a Fabia vRS anti roll bar. This bar is slightly stiffer and also has been re-designed with metal washers either side, which will never wear out. I've just fitted one to my car and it's stopped all the knocking and squeaking.

The new bar and bushes costs about £60 from Skoda. Fitting it however is not so simple and may cost a fair bit in labour from a garage.

Welcome to the site btw

I knew that this was the issue on my ibiza Altech, but i dont want to pay extortionate labor costs, i would much prefer a quick fix for now till i get some more money together...

i heard some white grease or even cable ties either side of teh bush mount will stop it moving...do you think this could be true?

Have your plastic retainers fallen off? if so you could probably try the cable tie idea. Or you could try and get some fat jubilee clips around the bar either side. They may hold better than cable ties.

I used a step by step guide from briskoda to change my arb. They guy who made the thread said it too him an hour to change it. But I also change my wishbone bushes to the cupra ones so it took a good few hours in the rain!! It's fairly straight forward but if your not confident with mechanics i'd let a garage do it.
