Has anybody changed their discs ? did you have to losen the nut on the hub after the centralising screw --- reason im asking is ive bought genuine vw discs using chasis no
the new ones would fit sraight on without hub nut but the ones on the car look like the nut needs to come off first either that or its a very snug fit --- tried a mallet + hammer then gave up !!!

No there is no need to remove the large centre nut - that just holds the the drive shaft into the hub assembly, if you have got the disc retaining screw out then just tap the face of the old disc's "top hat" section probably at 90 degree intervals downwards and it should become loose and just lift off. Remember to scrub the face of the hub disc mounting face to get rid of most of the rust, if you have any copper-ease apply a very thin covering onto the mating face and then onto the outer face of the dics central area where it gets trapped by the wheel. Also, if there is an oily rust inhibitor on the new discs clean it off before fitting the new discs - using brake cleaner.

He's right you know.

The disc need to be 'pursuaded' to come off :)

Your hammer is your friend, and Cpperslip for putting it back together.
